Description
Leather horse collars are a safer choice for turnout compared to halters due to their placement on a less sensitive area of the horse's body that is less likely to get caught on objects. This strap, handcrafted by the Amish, is designed to break away in case of an emergency.
The collar is equipped with prepunched holes, providing an adjustable fit of 30.5 to 35.5 inches to accommodate most horse sizes (cob to warmblood). Holes can also be added to accommodate neck sizes up to 38 inches.
Many large farms use leather horse collars to identify broodmares with an added brass name plate (our brass nameplates are attached with chicago screw, and thus removable and movable to different collars or halters). ID collars are particularly useful at stables where handlers may not recognize each horse by sight- an identification collar helps prevent potentially dangerous mix ups! Engraved plates are sold separately.
